 COVID-19 and Our Practice Announcement

Olney Psychiatry is committed to providing support to our existing patients and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. We understand fully that dementia and its symptoms are not put on hold, regardless of what is happening in the world, and that the necessary precautions related to the COVID virus are putting increased strains on patients and caregivers.

During this time, home visits and visits to facilities are suspended in order to keep our patients safe. As always, we remain available by telephone and email to address your concerns and make treatment decisions remotely.  We remain in close contact with nursing at the facilities where our patients reside as well as their other medical practitioners.

We are accepting new patients during this time on a case by case basis.  The majority of the intake procedure is already done remotely, that is, gathering information from families, caregivers, facilities, and medical records, and this will not change. We will not be able to see the patients in person as we usually do to complete the intake, but will do our best with telephone and videoconferencing when it is appropriate to do so.  In the majority of situations, this will be sufficient.  Additionally, as we will not be travelling to see the patient as we usually do, the cost of the intake will be reduced.  We will, of course, look forward to meeting with any new patients in person once the danger has passed.

We encourage everyone to follow CDC and local governmental guidelines regarding social distancing, hygiene, etc. to keep yourselves, and everyone else safe, espec
ially those who are at increased risk of death.  Please take care of yourselves and each other.

Welcome to our website.

This site is primarily for those who may wish to become patients in our practice and their family members/caregivers.  The links above will each open a page with information about the practice.

We are available to provide consultation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy in a non-judgmental and confidential environment. We operate outside of the confines and restrictions of managed care so that we have ample time to get to know our patients and understand their individual needs.  We believe in education and explanation so that our patients and their caregivers are able to take an informed and active role in their improvement.  We pride ourselves on being available to patients and providing service at the highest standard of care.

We specialize in diagnosing and treating adults with Alzheimer's and other Dementias, Major Depression, Anxiety Disorders and Mental Disorders related to health problems and other life difficulties.

Please take time to browse the site and feel free to call us with any questions or to set up an initial appointment.

Home visits available by appointment, Monday through Friday.

Please note: As of 2014 the practice is only accepting new Geriatric patients; the wait for an appointment may be up to 4-6 weeks.  We apologize for the inconvenience.
